Fun with Orange: Glitter Background Infused with Copic Ink.

Hello all my crafty friends! We are having a challenge at Color Me Creative for the next two weeks and our theme is "Fun With Orange".   I have a special friend celebrating a birthdy in a few days and thought I could create a card using orange but in a very special way....    glitter background infused with Copic Alcohol Ink.      Hope she enjoys her birthday card!

I don't know abut the rest of you but I get tired with doing the same old thing over and over and I try to spice things up by spending at least one if not two of my days off taking classes - live  classes or on-line.    I love picking up new and fun techniques or tips that will help me improve my style.

Today is no exception! I attended a crop nite in Lodi last week and someone asked if I was aware that a new micro-glitter was compatible with Copics. I reluctantly got some of the new product and tested it with my nibs.... very cautiously. Wow! It worked.

Close Up

I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black Dye Ink and then covered the image with double sided tape. The tape needed to be large enough to completely cover the paper that I used for my focal image and surrounding paper. I applied the new crystal micro-glitter and burnished the glitter into the double sided tape. This process took awhile because I manted to make sure the glitter did not come off on my marker nib. I then carefully infused Copic alcohol ink with my marker using a gentle "dabbing" motion. I did not use my usual flicking motion because I did not want to dislodge any of the glitter. I needed to use caution that the ink would not infuse outside my stamped image. I continued with this process working methodically until I felt the image had the right amount of shading and highlight. It was fun and I love my finished image. This will be one technique that I will use again and again! You can bet on it!
Copic Markers used:
Vase YR24, YR23, YR21, YR01, YR00, YR000 and Colorless Blender
Flowers: B04, B00 and colorless blender and RV000, RV11, RV32

That's all for today.   I hope you have a fabulous and safe weekend!

Hugs! Hugs! Hugs!

Hello and welcome!

I have a few days off from work and as you have probably guessed...  I headed straight for my craftroom!

I want to share a card I created using the stamp "Teddy Bear Hugs" from the  Gill Roberts' Collection (SP & Company).    I guess I am still on my "Teddy Bear kick! ".

So this is what I am up to this week.    I am trying out my new markers.   I wanted to try some of my new Touch Twin alcohol ink markers from (ShinHan).   I am still playing around with color combinations and unfortunately I did not keep track of the color combos that I used. I promise to start sharing them as I figure out good combos!  What is my impression?    I LOVE the ocverage and smooth flow of the ink.    Gorgeous and the marker feels so good in your hand.   OK - I ocnfess.   Anymarker feels good in my hand!   LOL    I am still in the trial and error stage right now but will start recording my color combos soon.  I plan to study Suzanne Dean's lists of combos at Color Me Creative.   She has some fabulous starter combos!

What else amy I doing?   I  want to  continue to experiement with my backgrounds and want to share one of my Intense Copic Faux Watercolor backgrounds for you. I really like how this one turned out. I have the darkest or most intense side in my shadow area and could probably have goon a couple shades lighter with my highlight side. I was using my Touch Twin and so I think I still need to play with them to figure out the intensity and hues.

I will be linking this card with the following challenges.

I hope you have a safe and crafty week. Stop by tomorrow to see what fun new technique I used with glitter and Copics!

A Tweet For You

mp052313a

Hello to all our friends in Cyberland!   Marie here and I want to share a "TWEET" - I mean treat bag I created using one of my favorite  Whimsy Meljen's Designs stamp paired with my Cameo Silhouette.
My stamp is a Whimsy Meljen's Designs Rubber Stamp called Garden Birdhouse. I wanted to create a treat bag for a friend who loves birds so I selected a simple treat bag design from my silhouette. I think this would be a great design that would work great for gifting flower seeds for that special gardner in your life.  It is that time of year and I plan to create a few different bags and treat boxes for flower seeds.
The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Dye Ink on Cryogen Paper.    If you have not tried Cryogen -  give it a try. It is my favorite paper to use with Copics and Touch Twin ShinHan Markers.

MPo52313b

I used  the following Copic Alcohol Sketch markers to color the image :
Birdhouse: E30, E31, E33, E35, E29 and E49. I used my Colorless Blender to help age the wood and
added a touch of BG23 to enhance even more the look of weathered wood
Grass/Leaves: G40, G43, YG63, G27
Birds: B000, B00, B02Background: I used my  Whimsical  Copic Faux Watercolor  technique. W0, W00, W1, BG000, BG00, Eooo and Colorless Blender

This cute little gift bag was cut using my Cameo Silhouette.

This is a good sized image so I didn't want to add alot of embellishment.
And sometimes - it is great to have a simple card that goes through the mail without extra postage!

I was going to add some really great buttons that would coordinate with the beautiful blue-green paper but
the more I looked at it, the more I realized it should just be simple
and let the image truely be the focal part of the card.

The Outlawz: Twited Thursday: Dry Emboss!

Woo Hoo!   The challenge at The Outlawz : Twisted Thursday is sure to delight!    Please join us for some embossing fun!

I used a free clear stamp that was provided from Cardmaker.   I love this vintage design.
I tried to wet  emboss a pair of scissors .... and I am less than pleased with it.   I did not notice the lack of definition until I was ready to post and examine it..... when I was out of town!   Oh No!   What does one do?   Post and hope noone sees it!   LOL

Our challenge is always "Anything goes" but if you want to have an extra chance to win....   dry emobss.    I used one form of dry embossing at the bottom of my card.    I love the dry emboss! :D
